And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.
Rev 16:8-9
I must have read that passage in Rev. a dozen times or more and I never remember reading that God has power over the plagues. So does that mean He sends the plagues?
ReplyDeleteWhy yes.
ReplyDeleteWho is in control but God.
Who is Judge over His Own creation.
Specifically it is Jesus who returns as the LION of the tribe of Judah (not the Lamb this time) who opens the judgment seals over all the earth.
He alone is found worthy to judge, destroy the wicked.
Grace and mercy rejected by rebellious creation makes way for God's sure justice.
It is good to see that God is removing the scales from your eyes.
As it was in the days of Noah....
God will once again judge the wicked of the earth.
But it starts with His people, who should KNOW BETTER.
ReplyDelete1 Peter 4:17
For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
It was mentioned earlier that the worst weather disasters seem to be targetted at so-called 'conservative' states. That is cuz of this verse. It is not cuz God approves of gays or abortion or whatever this week's cassus belli is.
It's cuz He judges His people FIRST, and right now they are messing up big as far as Israel.
So before we cheer His coming judgment, make sure your own house is clean first. He does not EXPECT unsaved people to live righteous lives, as so many do, cuz He never said America was Christian(neither did any founding father, but that's another rant).
He does expect His people to be salt and light and extend His grace to the unsaved, same as grace was extended to YOU. When you got saved, is it because someone pounded you over the head with a bible or the Law? No, it's cuz someone showed you Who Jesus was and what He did, and why.
So why do we think pounding will work now? Just shows we 'forgot our first love' as Rev 2 says.

ReplyDeleteVery good point.
There comes a time when God's love is rejected and only one thing remains.
I believe God leads us to show mercy or pounding rebuke.
In Jeremiah's day the stream of mercy dried up for almost everyone and all that was left for them was the sword ,famine and plague.
We are about there and this will get the attention of some.
Where is the fear ?
And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh Jude 1:23
Very good points as well.
