I believe The Israel of God" are ALL those, whether Jew or Gentile that are His on the basis of their faith in Jesus and in His blood. That is what the Bible says. The way I read it, esp in Jer 50/51, it is ISRAEL that comes out victorious, NOT the USA.
Not to mention, if Israel was not supposed to be there, it would not be. Are we to believe a tiny nation of unsaved Jews is more powerful than God Himself? God needs Islam and the nations of the world to do His work for Him? He could not flick them away like a bug?
Jer 50:7 All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.
This verse is telling us(referring to the Jewish people) that their adversaries think they offend not because they sineed against the Lord(rejected Christ). Exactly what the first poster said.

God says later He will punish Babylon/USA, and bring Israel to his habitation. Just so we are sure of where that is, God names the places by name.

So Abraham was promised the LAND OF ISRAEL.
Note also the Law had not been given, so Abraham could not follow the Law, to 'earn' it.
Note also God swore it by Himself, a one sided deal.
Note lastly when the Law WAS given, it was seperate from that promise:
Deut 5: 2 The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
3 he LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
Moses directly says God did not make this covenant with their fathers(Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob). It goes on to reiterate the Law.
So the Law was NOT part of the Abraham promise. That is why Paul said the gifts and calling are without repentance.
Read Romans 11 again. This time, the WHOLE THING.
God is Jewish God. He was their God first. We only got the offer of salvation BECAUSE they rejected Him. It wasn't a surprise to Him, but part of the plan all along. He did us a favor, as Gentiles.

Notice this people is gathered out of many nations and are dwelling safely "against the mountains of israel" WITHOUT WALLS. Notice God calls them HIS PEOPLE that are gathered in israel against the mountains and wasteplaces that are now inhabited. There are no walls, they dwell in safety until Gog decides to come in and take what they have.
But God says this is happening so that "the heathen may know me". Ok heathen are unbelievers. God is moving gog to do this so that unbelievers will know him. And God himself says HE will be SANCTIFIED in their eyes. From that point on these unbelievers will KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT that God is real and he is in favor of israel.
Zeke 39
7So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
Up until this point his people israel have indeed polluted his name. He will henceforth not allow it.
